The terrarium habitat represents a woodland habitat. Our terrariums were built using an oblong rectangular plastic aquarium. The aquarium is fitted with a convex plastic lid with an optional air vent. For ease of clean up and to conserve the moisture in the habitat, we lined the inside of the plastic with saran wrap. Layers of pebbles, leaf litter, and soil were place on top of the saran wrap. The soil was built up into a hill on one side in order to allow space for the tree seedling to take root. The air vent on the lid has been closed in order to create condensation from the evaporating moisture, which will recycle into the terrarium. Plants to be added include moss and a tree seedling. Animals that will be introduced to the environment are pill bugs and bess beetles. HOME
